CHAPTER FIVE

T

I was confused. The first couple steps of initiation into the Tats were so quick and confusing I didn't quite realize that I wasn't working with, or even really meeting, anyone besides Kurtis and Moxie. Half-expecting to see them covered in blood and demanding I dispose of a body, a part of me was relieved that they were only piss-drunk, Moxie shirtless and shoeless, covered in dirt and scratches. They were both laughing, clutching each other, and they barged past me into the my kitchen. Moxie opened up my refrigerator, grabbed a beer and opened it, while Kurtis looked at me.

"What the fuck?" I said, "Why you callin' me a faggot, nigga?"

"Oh fuck, I just playin', nigga, just playin'," Kurtis said, gently tapping my shoulder with his fist. "We still boys and all."

Moxie was eating my leftover lo mein right out of the container with his hands. "This shit is good, go get some more."

"It's four o'clock in the morning, Moxie, they ain't open. And I ain't yo' bitch, and I ain't yo' late night-"

Moxie dropped the container of lo mein on the floor, and I realized I had made a mistake. I was so tired I hadn't realized who I was talking to.

"Nigga, what was that?" Moxie said, his drunken eyes narrowed to angry slits. "Are you talkin' back to me? You takin' a tone with me?"

"No... Moxie... It's not like that," I said, putting my hands up.

"It just so happens," Moxie said, slurring his words, "That we here to give you the next phase of yo' initiation. That first 'T' is a big step."

"You gotta prove you do anything for yo' boys," Kurtis said.

Without further warning, Moxie dropped his pants and his heavy dick flopped out. "Suck this dick."
